Everything We Love About The Husqvarna Svartpilen 801
As much as we loved the Svartpilen 701, its single-cylinder engine always left us wondering how good the bike could be with a twin in it. For 2024, Husqvarna has answered that question and delivered the Svartpilen 801, which is powered by the 799cc version of the LC8c borrowed from KTM’s 790 Duke.
But that still left one question remaining: Would this new model, with its dramatically upgraded engine, deliver the performance to put it onto a completely different playing field of competitors?

Honda's NR500 GP racer, NR750 endurance racer, and 1994 $60,000 streetbike launched a million dreams but were failures in the grand scheme. The bikes were beautiful innovations and represented a crazy technical striving during a magic time at Honda when the company explored anything that seemed possible. Did Yamaha Go TOO FAR With The MT-09?

This year’s model features an updated 5-inch TFT dash with a multitude of settings and prebaked riding modes along with phone connectivity. Yamaha has reoriented the rider triangle into a sportier position, stiffened the suspension, refined the rigidity and balance of the chassis, and reworked the overall aesthetics of the machine. While the changes may not seem major, they do hint at a new phi...

Can We Rally Race A Suzuki V-Strom 800DE Adventure Bike?
Просмотров 75 тыс.14 дней назад
Is it possible to race a modern adventure bike in a desert rally race? That’s the question we asked after watching Paris-Dakar videos from the early ‘90s. So we decided to create a modern version of Suzuki's legendary DR Big Paris-Dakar racer. We spent months building a 2023 V-Strom 800DE for the 2024 NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally, and now it’s time to go racing! Will we make it to the finish? Ride ...

I fell at Chuckwalla and messed up my GSXR. I was bummed out and one of the “track instructors” made fun of me and asked if my bike was a Ducati. Basically insinuating that I shouldn’t be upset because I had a GSXR. Mind you, my bike looked 10 times better than his broken down janky lookin 06-07 R6. Haven’t been back since! Was not a pleasant experience at all.

What mousse, tire, rim combo did you use? I ran the norra on my 890 and had Michelin m02 mousse with desert race tire on a 2.5 rim and it lasted the whole race with no issues, even at 100mph many times.

It was good to hear the name Aprilia. Much respect I have. My current bike is 2018 RSV4 RF LE. The first with GP wings. I've got 55 years of experience and have come to find 1/10 second priceless. I love the frame, so when someone I know (who is a salesman) said "it just came in" I said "$old!" I got the first one ever sold. May not mean anything to anyone else, but it means i had the first wheelie, the first on a track... etc. Sure would be nice for an all Aprilia show. Thanks guys, this was a brilliant video.

Chains are great but messy which I dont care for ... Love the belt drive , had it on small Kawasaki street bike and it was quiet and long lasting ... Shaft drive has its quirks , but hondas design on the goldwing made it really good with the counter rotating drive train that eliminated alot of the quirkyness ... I like it best ....

Lots of superlative comments about ergos, with only data of weight and seat height. ZERO data on size, limb length, snd weight of tester. Makes the superlatives pretty worthless. I don't have $11k for a bike. I'll figure it out a few years from now.

I tuned racebikes for Quebecois riders in the late 80's and early 90's, hitting some of the AMA races. I remember rolling our bike to tech, with Kevin and Jewel Hendricks as the judges of rightness. we had nice little chats, "oh hi Ken..." breezed through, zero stress, while in Canada, some tech guys wanted cam chain tensioners lockwired, and other such idiocy. it was a real pleasure to meet intelligent guys !

About synthetic oil.. I was working for a contractor at the Marathon oil refinery as an electrician.. I was running conduit in the product line pipe racks... What the difference was between regular oil and synthetic as it was told to me by a Marathon oil refinery engineer who should know.... What it boils down to pardon the pond,, synthetic oil molecules are all exactly the same size.... Petroleum oil is all different sized molecules from big to little and guess which ones break down first ..

I use mobile one V-Twin oil in my XR 1200 Harley Davidson. I use this in the engine only that is 20 w 50 model 1 v-twin oil.. the transmission and the primary are connected together and share the same oil as there's no separation between the two.. Harley-Davidson says to use 80 weight gear oil ... This stuff makes your clutch plates stick together, so the clutch plates are still stuck together and engaged when you put it in first gear.. this is what causes that horrible clunking sound when you first put your new Harley in gear.. this noise is caused by the dog engaging on the gear sides without disengaging the clutch plates that will eventually destroy the transmission of your new Harley.. on a Sportster you do not have much choice because the transmission share with the primary.... So I use 10 w 40 engine oil formulated for a Japanese motorcycle with the clutch transmission and engine all one oil that is made for clutch plates to disengage.., I have nowhere no noise and my clutch works perfectly.... As long as you have an MA endorsement on the back of the bottle you're fine... Or a big twin Harley use what they say to use in the transmission...but for the primary that is separate oil use automatic transmission oil that won't cause the clutch plates to stick together ... And enjoy your Harley for the very first time with no noise, nowhere and tear on the transmission at all.... In your primary all your lubricating is your primary chain and clutch bearing . And this is what automatic transmission fluid is designed to do... And the plates in your clutch will work perfectly just like they do in an automatic transmission

No question , it's Mobile 1 that is made for your particular brand of bike...they make different oils for different kinds of bikes .and what sold me , at Daytona Bike week they had the mobile one challenge against your oil.. you give them a sample of your oil and they tested it against Mobil 1 and mobil one won the contest every time... As all other oils broke down against their test every time....

Real good work fellows thoroughly enjoyable insight to a beast.A fellow i knew and dealt with some years back before his untimely departure , alex campbell was a motor cycle racer and outfit racer and local yamaha dealer, probly had a fair bit to do with yamaha developing the tz 700 /750 . He in fact had joined to 350 twins together and used a norton gearbox in and outfit , fast, generally unreliable . But did spark enough interest to bring the yamaha gurus from japan out here .A mate of mine still has the engine and the frame and has thoughts of restoring as he used to work with alex and had the pleasure of running in the engine on our local roads with instructions to stay under 90mph 😅 . Im not sure how to add a link on here but a quick google search of alex campbell motorcycle racer makes an interesting read.

I've had my RMX for five riding seasons now. The bike has been flawless. Corked up she makes 41hp. Uncorked air box and exhaust like a Yoshimura RS4 full system along with a JD Tuner to richen her up. Just did this to my bike. Bike rips plenty for trail work. I'd guess around 46 - 48 hp, now and plenty of torque to tractor her anywhere. Best bike I've ever owned.

This is the 3rd new Suzuki 800 video that I have seen with a chain derailment. Why would they not include a real chain guide to eliminate this possibility? The extra cost on the assembly line might be 10 dollars. At least the T7 and Toureg 660 have the mounts on the swingarm to add one. Unfortunately, the new Suzuki does not. A real deal breaker for sure. Imagine yourself in that same situation after spending 20K on your wonder bike.

In my mind, it was - and is - too radical to be immediately "beautiful." Like driftwood with wheels, it was shockingly organic in appearance. Only in function was the beauty fully appreciated. It seems that visionaries can be a double-edged sword. One builds a revolutionary motorcycle. Another gives the world the Chrysler K-car. For all of its brilliance, look at the grief the ancient Raceco Guzzi gave it at Brands Hatch in 1995. Yet, Dr. John Wittner was only slightly less a visionary, laboring under the deficit of captivity to that which already existed.
